It turned out to be a beautiful day -- nice temperatures, a little sun in the afternoon, and only a little wind to slow things down. It was nice to finally get to see some competition. Many schools only sent partial squads and the performances were typical of the time of year (with a few notable exceptions). The sprint times were slow because the races were run into the wind.

Nichole Jones (Spring Westfield) destroyed this 800 heat in about 2:17 only an hour after running 3200m in 11:01. Wow! |
I saw only the last vault of the competition so I'm not sure if this is Dereck Taylor or Alex Bentley — both cleared 15-0 for the Cougars. |
