BOYS
The races for the finish was quite close in the boys race. 250
M. from the finish Ackerly Sands and Midland Lee were neck and neck
for first with Big Spring about thirty meters behind the top two in
third., Big Spring's runner put on an impressive sprint and pressed for
the finish line. As Big Spring passed the Sands and Midland Lee runners,
those boys pressed harder, too. The Sands runner was able to hold his
lead for about another 50 Meters. Big Spring pushed and pushed and ran
past him for the gold. The Midland Lee runner also finally overtook
Sands by a lean at the finish. Tremendous competition by Six-Man Football
sized Sands against strong 4A and 5A competitors. Coronado and San
Angelo Central battled for fifth in the final stretch with Coronado capturing
the position.
