I'm sorry for the scarcity of photos. The UIL made it extremely
difficult for all media people to cover the meet. Results for all divisions were
not made available after the meet and I was not allowed access to the finish
area to shoot pictures at the end of races.

Calandra Stewart (Cy-Falls) pulled off a major
upset in winning the 5A girls title. It wasn't by luck, either. Calandra
ran a very strong race and, though she was really struggling the last 100
meters, held off San Antonio Reagan's Natalie Pichetti and San Antonio
MacArthur's Genevieve Chavez. |
| Some people thought Leonel Manzano (Marble
Falls) was definitely vulnerable in this year's 4A race, but he seemed in
control the whole race. He stayed close to the leader until the last 1200m
when he simply powered away from the field. |

Giddings' Joanne Penn pulled away from the 3A
field for a well-earned title. |
| Matt Brown (McGregor) had one of the more impressive
wins all day with his 15-second win over Eula's Jorge Hernandez. |
 |
 |
Dana Gillespie (Alvord) pulled away from
sophomore star Amie Morton (Woden) in the last 200m to win the 2A title. |
| In one of days most exciting finishes,
Forestburg's Christany Reynolds defeated Throckmorton's Halie Jacobs in
the final stretch to win her first girls championship. |
